Long overdue update!

Hi Everyone!

I know this update has been very long overdue, I'm not even going to make any excuses ;) I do apologize though.

Well, once again, I'm going to start sounding like a broken record, but I haven't had another outbreak, meaning I've been outbreak free for half a year! It's getting to the point where I actually want to have an outbreak, as I've been reading everyones comments on how quickly their cold sores heal, but, I want to see for myself! But I can't complain though.

I don't care if this sounds like one big, giant ad for BHT, but I'm so glad that I stumbled upon it. I donno what I would be doing if I kept on having continuous outbreaks. Not only were these outbreaks making me really depressed, but really angry too. Not having the best self-esteem, how are you supposed to face the world with a smile on your face if it literally hurts to do so!

One of the worst memories I have with my lovely friends on my lip was in grade 9, almost 10 years ago. My Biology teacher, decided the topic of the day was sexually transmitted diseases, and when she got to the part where cold sores was a form of herpes, I had everyone turn around and look at me in disgust! I can laugh at it today, but I think that's one of the biggest reason I hate cold sores so much. People associate them with an STD, as if it never crosses their mind how you actually got it.

I'm glad to see with this blog, hoever small, is starting to make an impact. An if I can just save one person from the humilation, pain and suffering that results from a cold sore. I'm happy.

Here's wishing everyone, as always, the best of luck with your outbreak free journey!

Hi, about 3 months ago I was diagnosed with HSV2 and was devastated. I had an outbreak lasting about 3 weeks. I read this blog and have been taking BHT for about a month now. I did have an early VERY small ob that cleared up in about a day and then today just got what I guess is called prodone, the start of another one. In all fairness, I neglected to take my BHT pills for the past 2 days. I am taking 500mg of BHT daily and am 5'7, female, and weigh 120lbs. My first ob was so painful and horrible and lasted so long and the last one was not even comprable. I think BHT does help. I have heard that after a year of taking BHT you can rid yourself of this horrible virus. I wondered if you knew the amount you need to take to do this and after a year if YOU will be getting blood tested to see if this virus has left your system. Or, if you will have your antibodies read to see if they are decreasing as time goes on. Thanks.

Hello. Let me thank you for creating this post and keeping us all updated.I noticed that your last outbreak was 183 days ago have you gone for a blood test yet to see if the test would come back negative? Also I read on this blog that taking lysine is not good since it makes the virus retract back to hiding. Are you taking anything else other than BHT? HSV1 here and would apreciate your fback.

Although, I don't proclaim BHT to be a miracle cure. People have come forward telling me they have been tested negative after being positive. Their dosages have been around 1000mg a day taken in conjunction with St Johns Wart which makes it highly effective against the HSV virus.

I still haven't been tested again to see if I'm still carrying the virus, as I don't think I will test negative on the dosage; 250mg of BHT by its self. However I did want to test myself at 6 months , and plan to do so soon.

I don't usually recommend Lysine, as it did nothing for me no matter how much of it I took. And being a macro-nutrient I took up to 8000mg a day hoping it would prevent, or at least let my sores heal quicker. It did neither.

Hello all. l-lysine works for me as herpes outbreak prevention. Taking 3-9 grams a day will prevent an outbreak. As soon as you get prodrone symptoms, increase your l-lysine intake and you will not have an outbreak. Arginine, drinking alchohol and smoking w..d provokes an outbreak. Taking l-lysine during an outbreak lessens the outbreak, but you can't smoke or drink and you need to cut down on your intake of arginine. I am now taking bht and will cut back on the l-lysine to see if bht alone will eventually get rid of the hsv. I heard also taking vitamin c along with bht helps the immune system attack the virus. I've been taking bht for about a week now about 1 gram per day, no drinking or smoking w..d. Will be cutting back on the l-lysine to see if bht can prevent outbreaks by itself (along with vitamin c); Maybe I'll also get some st. johns wort as this blog also mentions. I will keep you posted on my progress as I was to get rid of this virus and not just suppress it as l-lysine does. But better suppressed than nothing!!!!

I don't know if you've covered this before, but how frequent were your cold sores prior and what was the range in severity?

Hello, I am a 49 year old female and was diagnosed with genital
HSV2 in 1990...a devastating "gift" from my husband of three years prior. Anyway, I experienced fewer outbreaks for approximately 4 yrs. when I was perimenopausal. I have been in full menopause for 2 years and have not experience any outbreaks. I however continue to take Valtrex when I feel pain/swelling in my lower abdomen (ovaries/glands)which has occurred once during these last 2 years. But the blisters and pain do not surface like in past years. I just happened across this info on BHT today. I was a little concerned about the possibilty that it may cause some forms of cancer. If anyone has taken BHT long term with great success of minimizing or eliminating this horrific virus, pls let me know of any side effects. I am interested in trying BHT but would like to hear about residule affects.
Thanks

You convinced me to give this BHT a try. I just ordered a bottle from House of Nutrition. I'll keep you posted!

Had it for about 7 years and tried maybe 30 treatments, you name it I've tried it and only one thing works, Tertrasil, use it every couple of days and you'll have absolutely no outbreaks, personally I take Lysine every 2 days too just in case, oh and Vit C, all preventative.

If you don't mind, how frequent did you have cold sores prior to this experiment and what was the range in severity of the outbreaks? i think I have way too much paranoia in thinking every little bump or irritation is a cold sore. I also spend way too much time touching my face which can't help.

Last year before I started taking BHT, I literally had an outbreak almost every month. An outbreak usually never being more then 2 sores at a time, but could result in a maximum of 4. I know my outbreaks aren't as bad as others, I have seen people with outbreaks covering their top and bottom lips entirely, and my heart goes out to them.

To anonymous with menopause. Herpes outbreaks usually decrease after the age of 35, I'm not sure if it's the same with men and woman. From what I've gathered you haven't really had an outbreak since you been in full menopause, why don't you give Valtrex a skip when you do feel 'the signs' and see how it progresses?

There is a lot of conflicting evidence with BHT, the negative side effects are usually associated with extremely high dosages, where as if other 'safe' drugs taken in that same high dosage could be lethal.
